What is agentcad?

An open-source MCP server and CLI that lets your coding agent design, render, and export real CAD output. build123d-native and CadQuery-compatible. Open source, free, no signup, runs locally on macOS, Linux, and Windows with Python 3.10–3.12.

How to use agentcad?

Create a Python 3.12 virtual environment, then run: pip install agentcad[mcp], agentcad skill install, agentcad --help, and agentcad init --name myproject. Write a build123d script with show_object(), then run agentcad run script.py --output first --render iso. Read the JSON metrics and preview to verify geometry before handing off.

Execute

Run scripts and produce versioned STEP files plus geometric metrics such as volume, dimensions, face count, and validity.

Render

Generate PNG views from any angle for visual verification, including four-view previews and custom azimuth/elevation angles.

Export

Export STL, GLB, and OBJ meshes for 3D printing and web viewers; GLB auto-colors individual solids.

Validate

Pre-execution checks catch syntax errors, missing show_object(), and unresolvable imports in under 100 ms without consuming a version.

Inspect

Topology reports cover solid count, shell count, face orientations, free edges, and BRepCheck validity for debugging geometry.

Compare two versions by number or label to track metric deltas, parameter changes, and per-part adds or removes.
